BamaBassFishing Newsletter, September 2008 Issue September 01, 2008 |
Produced by Ed Majors and Barry Brasher Co-Owners - BamaBassFishing.com Barry's Tips
Hey! Any of you fisherman, fishing humps or sunken islands and catching a fish or two? Let us know at
Bamabassfishing.com.
It"s going to get a little easier this month, because we will be fishing roadbeds. Roadbeds are exactly that, a sunken road or even bridge that was covered when the power company formed the lake. Bass use these these roads just like we did at one time. Basically it will be very narrow to maybe even a four lane highway. Nevertheless find the top, or the shallowest part, back off and fish the sides, you can even cast all the way across the road and get both sides. Roadbeds can run a distance of a few yards up to miles. I have fished road beds that run from one end of a slough to the other end. Let me tell you this is a very easy way to find a large group of fish in one spot. Not many people fish this type of structure, because it is generally found in open water away from everything. That is the secret to bass fishing, GO SOMEWHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE. This is called a honey hole. Roadbeds can be long and wide so it will give you the chance to fish an area no one else is fishing. I have been fishing this type of structure for years and it always pays off big time if you stick with it and find the best parts of the road you are fishing. Matter of fact if you fish the same lake a lot, it will be productive time after time for you. Crank baits and worms are my favorite baits for this type of structure. Roadbeds are really easy to find with a map or gps so give it a try. It takes a long time to learn to fish different types of structure like this and be successful so be ready to explore new things with an open mind. That is why it is called fishing instead of catching. Good luck and be careful! Barry Email me with any questions at Barry@bamabassfishing.com.
