Even the boats we use are getting out of control. Don't get me wrong. This is wonderful technology. But is it necessary to be able to travel from one end of a river to the other end in less than two hours? In recent years there have been several deaths attributed to speed and lack of restrictions on the waterways. Should speed limits be imposed on highly populated lakes? Think about deer hunting for a moment. The restrictions on this sport are mind-boggling. Every little detail is covered when hunting. What kind of weapon you can use, where you can go, what time you can hunt, what you can kill, male or female, etc etc etc. To ensure future fishing for our kids and their kids should we place tighter restrictions on the devices we use? Even with technology being what it is, restrictions of this sort can slow the damage of a lake being over-fished. As I have said in other articles, "fishing is my passion!" Let's enjoy it and keep it available for all to enjoy. What do you think? Contact us and let us know. Barry Brasher is an avid fisherman on Logan Martin and other Alabama lakes.
