Blood Knot - A Solid Fishing Knot

The Blood Knot is a very good fishing knot for tying two pieces of similar diameter line together. It is great to use instead of a swivel because the knot will not spook the fish (unlike a swivel or leader). Plus there is less chance of doing damage to the guides on your rod (which happens more often on the cast than on the retrieve).

Then stick the tag ends of the lines back through the middle of the twists. Getting the line separated can be tricky but sticking your nail in the middle usually helps. Also, be sure to stick the lines back through the same opening and in opposite directions.

Tighten the knot by pulling the lines tight. It may help to moisten both knots as they slide together. Basically, you will have tied two simple clinch knots back to back in reverse directions. Trim the ends, leaving about 1/8 of a inch.

And there you have it!!

Good Fishing.
