Fishing Rod Review

We’re glad you stopped by to check out our fishing rod review pages. With so many great rods on the market these days it can be confusing deciding which rod is the right one for any given situation. At Bama Bass Fishing, we’ve done much of the homework for you.

We cover many of the most popular fishing rods on the market today. We share with you the great history of many of these great fishing equipment companies, and analyze some of your best options for tangling with that trophy largemouth!

In general terms, using the right tool for any task makes the job much easier. Fishing is no different. The right rod at the right time can often be the difference between catching your fill and getting skunked. Don’t assume one rod will be the only one you ever need.

But if you are looking for a good general rod to get you through the next few seasons, I like a spinning rod that is somewhere between 5.5 and 6.5 feet. Rods of this size are able to cast lures that are less than half an ounce a decent distance without impacting your accuracy.

If you’ve read more than one fishing rod review, you will notice there are a lot of anglers that prefer graphite rods over their fiberglass counterparts. I am also a big fan of graphite rods. I am also partial to fishing rods with a cork handle. Cork offers more sensitivity when it comes to detecting fish over foam handles (although sometimes it can wear down faster than foam).

One aspect many anglers don’t consider is the type of guides on their rod (guides are the loops that guide your line from the reel to the tip). Make sure your fishing rod has guides that are stainless steel. If you have anything else on your rod, you run the risk of rusting. And if it rusts, it will take a toll on your fishing line.

Having said that, the fishing rod you buy will depend on where you fish, when you fish and what you are fishing for. There are more great rods on the market today than ever before. Technology and passion for this great sport has produced many high-performance rods at a reasonable investment.

Take a look at what we have outlined below for you. Do a bit of homework before you buy.
